During the winter months, Napili Shores Maui BY OUTRIGGER offers front row seating for the magnificent humpback whales that can be seen in the waters fronting the property.

Amid beachfront gardens, this informal resort is a 12-minute walk from the Kapalua Coastal Trail, and a mile from both Kapalua Golf's Bay Course and the Dragon's Teeth rock formations.

Modest studios with island-inspired decor feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and DVD players. All have kitchens, balconies and ceiling fans (no air-conditioning), while 1-bedroom condos add separate living rooms. Some quarters offer ocean views and/or pull-out sofas.

There are 2 casual restaurants (1 oceanfront) and 2 outdoor pools, along with a hot tub, a BBQ area and a coin-operated laundry. Other activities include croquet and shuffleboard. Parking is free.
