Windstar Cruises Star Explorer Allows you Access from River Ocean Voyages

Windstar Cruises Star Explorer Allows you Access from River Ocean Voyages. As Star Explorer noses up the Guadalquivir River, the banks narrow and Seville's cathedral tower rises ahead — a passage most ships are too large to attempt, sending them to Cádiz instead, over an hour away.

Windstar has launched RiverOcean™, a new category of river-to-ocean cruising, featuring Star Explorer, debuting December 2026. The 224-guest all-suite yacht is purpose-built to sail into city centers by river, then continue out to open water.

Star Pride and Star Legend extend the same approach elsewhere — Tulip Season in Holland & Belgium on Star Pride is an easy transition for Rhine cruisers, while Star Explorer's French Feast: Normandy, Brittany & Aquitaine does the same for Seine cruisers.

It's a natural next step for who've sailed the Rhine, Danube or Douro and are ready to go further, without giving up the intimacy they love. It's also a strong option for who weren't able to sail this year due to low river levels.

Visit Approach Guides to create your customized RiverOcean Voyages experience for you.

Seville, delivered by River

There's a particular thrill in watching a city come into view by water instead of by bus. As Star Explorer noses up the Guadalquivir River, the banks narrow and Seville's cathedral tower rises ahead — a passage most ships are too large to attempt, sending them to Cádiz instead, over an hour away. Star Explorer was purpose-built for this: a 224-guest yacht that can navigate waterways too small for larger ships, yet still handle open water beyond them. It's what lets a voyage take you places bigger ships simply can't reach.

Two nights here means Seville isn't just a stop — it's time enough to see the Alcázar by daylight, then wander back through the same streets by evening light, one of three UNESCO sites in a city that also opens the door to Córdoba. Choose an evening of flamenco and dinner, or an afternoon at a paella lesson with a local chef.

You'll wander Tangier's markets on the Moroccan shore, and explore Valencia, Cartagena, and Marbella along the Spanish coast as you make your way toward Lisbon. Sail Moroccan Markets & Iberian Icons on its own, or pair it with additional sailings for a longer Star Collector voyage, up to 24 nights through the Mediterranean and beyond.

Plus if you book, you'll also receive a Complimentary All-Inclusive Package (gratuities, unlimited Wi-Fi, and select beer, cocktails and wine by the glass) plus reduced deposits on voyages.
