About Europe

Princess Cruises honoured Gavin MacLeod

Alaskan Dream Cruises’ Admiralty Dream was underway in the Chatham Strait on Monday when crew members found the body of the captain, 47 year old Kenneth Adams, in his cabin. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful and medics were called immediately to the ship.

No foul play is suspected and crewmembers were offered grief counseling.
No booze, no soft drinks, no water
Starting July 15 Norwegian Cruise Line will impose a ban on bringing aboard liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks, including water, soda and juice, in carry-on and checked bags. The cruise line says, "The inspection of large volumes of beverages has an impact on the embarkation process and security resources. This modified policy will now bring us in line with other travel industry procedures for transporting beverages and allow security personnel to focus on other screening efforts and not [be] individually inspecting all beverages being brought onboard."
And of course, it doesn’t hurt ancillary revenue either.
Too Close for Comfort?
New regulations to be announced on Monday will allow luxury vessels to come closer to the coast of Portofino, stirring images of the Costa Concordia disaster where 32 people died. Environmental group Legambiente suggest that vessels will cause harm to the delicate ecosystem of the lagoon and human lives may be in jeopardy.
The Coast Guard proposes to allow cruise ships to float as near as 0.3 nautical miles to the Ligurian coast. The permissible limit of cruise ships coming close to the shore is 0.7 nautical miles.
Pop the cork
European Waterways will be offering five new “Champagne Cruises” in Champagne, France, aboard the Panache luxury hotel barge in 2017, in response to increased demands for this unique itinerary.
The departure dates are June 11, 18, 25 and July 2 and 9. Panache can accommodate up to 12 passengers in luxurious comfort and features a crew of six that includes an English speaking guide, gourmet chef and an experienced captain.
The 6-night itineraries are all-inclusive and charter bookings are also available.
Captain Stubing, we’re expecting you

He was recognized for his 30 years serving as the cruise line's global ambassador. " Hundreds of Princess employees and fans were in attendance.
