“Extremely disappointed with poor service”

We were extremely disappointed with this hotel. Our room was not ready at the check-in time. No one helped us carrying our luggage to the second floor considering there is no elevator, and I'm a petite girl traveling with my fragile and elderly father. We were extremely disappointed by our room when we got there. The AC barely worked even at max strength. Everything looked old and worn, eg. Rust stains on the mirror, the bathroom taps, and the shower drains. The bathroom had a foul smell, the towels smelled moldy and there was a hole in one of our bedsheets, which also smelled moldy. When we complained about the smell in the room the next morning, the hotel's solution was to spray cleaning solution that left yellow stains all over the bathroom counter. On the third day, the cleaning maid took our dirty towels but did not bring clean ones back. When we found a cleaning maid in the hallway and asked about the towels, we were told no cleaning towels are currently available, please check back later. So we asked again an hour later and was told they will be brought to us soon. We end up going out for several hours, and had to the third time to finally get clean towels. After expressing our concerns with our WestJet vacation rep, the hotel switched us to a newer room. The bell boy told us in private that our first room was in a building that's 12 years old and the new one is in a building that's only 2 years old. Considering the hotel didn't even seem half full based on how empty all the facilities were (eg. Restaurants, poolside, even the beach seemed empty), we are disappointed that they chose to put us in a room that's ten years older than the other empty ones they had available. Prior to our trip, I made dinner reservation on the hotel website. Only upon going to dinner, I learned that the online reservation system is not honored by the hotel itself, and not all restaurants open every night (which is not mentioned anywhere on their hotel website when I made the booking!) Overall, the service was very slow and we often have to repeat our request because the staff forgot what we asked for.

“Excellent resort”

We just spent a week in this fantastic resort!! The room was immaculate and comfortable. The resort is laid out perfectly. The a la cartes are delicious and they were very sweet in the French restaurant on my birthday. Cake and champagne! The Port Royal restaurant is the best and they offer a lunch that you don't need a reservation for. The beach is amazing and the beach bar is a lot of fun. Looking forward to going back soon.

“January Vacay - Sort of”

Sadly the food was an awful experience for me. The way the buffet is laid out is dangerous to someone with allergies. When trying to receive help around this, there was some effort but no follow through. I lived off of ham and cheese pizza's the whole trip. The facility itself and the beaches were amazing and the staff was friendly. It almost felt like there was more staff then guests. The only thing that kind of got a little much was when the cars showed up and specific guests were being driven along the pathways to get to the restaurants etc. We would have to stop and move over all the time. It was enough with all the service and guest vehicles to have to move out of the way all the time but when the cars came it topped it off for us. So my trip was great in regards to the accomodations, facilities and beach. But the food was sadly very disappointing and the continual dodging of guest carts, service carts and cars when walking around the resort were definitely not appealing when trying to have a relaxing vacation.

“Great vacation”

The Paradisius del Mar in Cuba was great. The hotel staff was friendly and the service was good. Our room was a bit dated (the bed and bedding) but kept immaculate. The maid service was excellent. The buffet restaurant had a lot of variety and the food was good but the service staff there were very slow. All of the a la carte restaurants were great in food and service other than the Hilltop where the food was terrible. The beach was amazing! We had a great holiday!
