While meals onboard are more often ‘miss’ than ‘hit’ the culinary experience at airports is becoming something to actually look forward to. Now food website The Daily Meal has compiled a list of the world’s top 35 airport restaurants. And take a bow Canada – restaurants at both Vancouver and Toronto made the cut.

The site reached out to chefs and food writers and collated existing rankings from the likes of the Travel Channel, CNN and Conde Nast Traveler to narrow a shortlist of 110 food outlets down to just 35 winners. The Gorgeous Kitchen at Heathrow Airport took the top spot, followed by Legal Sea Foods at Logan International Airport, Boston while Sushi Kyotatsu at Narita International Airport, Tokyo claimed third place.
