A plane from Bangkok to Amsterdam made an emergency landing in Warsaw Saturday night, after a passenger tried to open the door during the flight. Three other passengers helped the crew overpower the man.

One of the three, Adam Bohle, from the UK, told MailOnline , that about an hour into the flight he noticed a young man using the washroom. The man came out and went back in again, said Bohle, “which I found a bit weird. “He came out and I went in. After I was done I noticed he was sitting in the seat where the flight attendants sit for take off and landing.” Bohle said he assumed the young man, who appeared to be in his early twenties, had food poisoning or something like that, especially after an announcement was made asking if there was a doctor on board. About a couple of hours later the flight attendants shouted, “we need help, we need strong men.” Bohle said he was asked by cabin staff to help restrain the man on the KLM flight. Two other men rushed to help. Bohle described the man as being “very strong”, and said he held the top half of the man's body down while others tried to secure his feet with cable ties. A Dutch journalist said that the man “started to hit himself and scream,” and that “everyone was scared, including the flight attendants.” However, other passengers said no one panicked and the crew told the passengers the plane was making an unscheduled stop because of strong headwinds. On landing the The Boeing 777 was met by emergency services, and the man was handcuffed and taken away by Polish police. KLM flight 876 was grounded in Warsaw because of the damage to the door in the incident. The passengers spent Saturday night in hotels in the Polish Capital and KLM offered them transfers to Amsterdam or other cities the following day.
