CALGARY TO COSTA RICA Sunwing to offer new flight service this winter

Sunwing has announced the introduction of a new flight service from Calgary to Liberia, Costa Rica. Departing weekly on Mondays between December 25, and April 16, 2017, the new service will allow customers to trade in ski goggles for sunglasses this holiday season and experience the famous ‘Pura Vida’ lifestyle of the Central American country.

This latest addition to Sunwing’s winter flight schedule (which already includes a number of the region’s most popular vacation hotspots such as Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cancun, Mexico) brings the total number of destinations offered from Calgary to 15.
Sharing coastlines with both the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean and boasting a lush interior carpeted with rainforests, Costa Rica is truly a tropical escape.
Active travellers will appreciate the opportunity to partake in a number of water sports like scuba diving, surfing and parasailing along the 1,200kms of coastline; while nature lovers can explore the trails of Monteverde Nature Reserve to spot the thousands of plant and animal species - from bromeliads and tree frogs to yellow orchids and sloths - that call this small nation home.
Andrew Dawson, president of Tour Operations for Sunwing said, “Costa Rica is a wonderfully vibrant destination and offers something for every type of traveller – from eco adventurers to beach lovers. We are delighted to be able to extend our programming from Calgary Airport to offer a direct connection for the first time this winter.”
“YYC Calgary International Airport is the gateway for Albertans looking to explore destinations around the world, and we are thrilled to see our partners continue to grow their route network out of YYC due to continued demand from our passengers,” said Stephan Poirier, senior vice president & chief commercial officer for The Calgary Airport Authority.
