ROGUE WAVE CAUSES HAVOC

Passengers on Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas woke up to a ‘rogue wave’ crashing against the ship early Monday morning. The impact broke windows and flooded cabins affecting 89 passengers in total.

Royal Caribbean moved 45 guests to different staterooms, but the other 44 passengers had to depart the ship and end their cruise early. The cruise line paid their airfare and hotel costs. It has also said it will provide a full refund and a future cruise certificate worth what they paid for the current cruise to all passengers affected by the damage from the wave.

Repairs were made to the ship while it was docked in Ajaccio, Corsica, and the first port stop of the nine night Mediterranean cruise. There were no injuries.
