JUST WRONG Belgian bus drivers want danger premium

Belgian bus drivers are providing a shocking example of reprehensible behaviour as they attempt to profit from the country’s current woes. Regional authorities in Belgium have condemned a daily “danger premium” for bus drivers who head for Brussels as the capital is under a maximum threat alert likely through the weekend.

Regional transport minister Ben Weyts called the €50 ($71) a day premium “a wrong signal” for a nation trying hard to regain a sense of normalcy after the threat alert was imposed early Saturday. Some drivers have been scared to go the capital over the past days, as raids have happened on an almost daily basis, and the prime minister said that the threat of an attack was “serious and imminent.” So let’s understand this. The bus drivers are afraid to go to work, but their fears are assuaged if they get another €50 a day. Does that make sense? Are they stupid, greedy or both?

“We put our kids on the bus to school, but the driver gets a danger premium. That is a wrong signal,” Weyts said. No kidding.
