HOW MANY VICTORIES CAN YOU HAVE

A new cruise line, Victory Cruise Lines (not to be confused with cruise operator Victory Casino Cruises) intends to offer sailings from Canada to the United States and from the US to Cuba. The company will operate the Victory I, formerly known as the Saint Laurent; the ship once operated by the recently bankrupt cruise operator Haimark Line.

The Saint Laurent struck a lock wall in the St. Lawrence Seaway just weeks after her inaugural trip last summer, rendering her out of service for a month.
The company was forced to cancel its remaining cruises, and filed for bankruptcy in October.
Victory Cruise Line president and CEO Bruce Nierenberg said the company will begin sailing July 8 from Montreal to Chicago on a 10-day cruise on the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes.
It will follow that with a series of 10 and 15-day cruises between ports in Chicago, Canada and Gloucester, Mass.

When it receives approval from the Cuban government it will start offering cruises from Florida to Cuba.
Port Canaveral issued an email statement from CEO John Murray, "We have been in discussions with Victory Cruise Lines regarding the exciting plans in development for sailing to Cuba from Port Canaveral.
"(Victory Cruise Lines CEO) Bruce Nierenberg is a veteran cruise industry executive who has had a long, successful relationship with the Port Authority, and we look forward to working with him as Cuba cruises become a reality from Central Florida.
Lester Bullock, chief executive officer of Victory Casino Cruises says the similarity of the new cruise line’s name is “causing a lot of confusion.”
His gambling excursion ship is based at Port Canaveral and is also called Victory 1. He is said to be in discussion with a lawyer.
