The head coach of the US Women’s National Soccer Team, Jill Ellis, will christen the Avalon Passion, Avalon Waterways’ 11th Suite Ship in a ceremony in Europe next year. Ellis says the name “passion” is appropriate.

“I am truly honoured to be offered such a unique experience. Passion is such an important part of my life, so to be asked to be the godmother to the Avalon Passion is one of the coolest things I have ever been invited to do. I hope all who travel aboard her have a world-class adventure!” Ellis will christen the Avalon Passion in an international ceremony that will take place on April 13, 2016 in Linz, Austria. “As the head coach of the winning US Women’s National Soccer Team and former development director of the US Women’s Youth National Teams, Jill Ellis has a history of proving that with passion – and hard work – dreams come true,” said Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways.

“As someone who has shown great passion for, verve and vibrancy in cultivating women’s soccer, she is the perfect godmother to bless the Avalon Passion.” After the christening ceremony, the 443-foot (135 m), 166-passenger Avalon Passion will welcome travellers aboard to cruise the Danube River on such popular itineraries as The Legendary Danube, The Blue Danube Discovery, European Splendor and Grand Danube Cruise, among others.
