What sports equipment do you take on your vacation? Golf clubs? Tennis racquet? Skis? When Royal Caribbean International’s new ship Harmony of the Seas arrives in the UK next May it will be packing sports equipment – and plenty of it - 3,415 pieces in fact.

The planned inventory includes 900 ball pit balls, 192 golf balls, 144 badminton shuttlecocks, 80 ping pong balls, 31 surfboards, 30 basket balls, 16 ice hockey sticks, 16 pool cues, 144 pool balls, and 8 table tennis tables. The ship will have 16 decks and accommodate 5,479 guests at double occupancy. For recreation, there will be a water park, a zip line and an ice rink; facilities for thirty activities in all. Recently the cruise company laid out 1,700 pieces of sports equipment across 85 metres at Boscombe Beach in Dorset.

They would have had to lay out two in order to capture the full load that the ship will carry in the spring.
