ELEVATED WINE SERVICES

A partnership between Pacific Coastal Airlines and three local wineries in the Okanagan will make it easier for passengers to fly back home with their wine purchases. The airline is giving away free boxes that hold up to six bottles of wine that can be checked in as luggage, but will be stored separately.

The boxes will be offered to passengers flying into the Okanagan, but passengers can request them when they are departing from the Kelowna International Airport (YLW) as well.

Jenelle Hynes, business development and customer service manager for Pacific Coastal Airlines says the wine box “provides an easy solution for customers coming up for wine tours while showing our support of the local wine industry.”

The BC airline has partnered with House of Rose, Vibrant Vine and The View wineries to launch the project, with each of the company logos appearing on the box. The wineries have thrown in some coupons.

“This is a unique programme with our wineries and Pacific Coastal,” says Wyn Lewis with Vibrant Vine Winery.

“It’s a great way to promote our wineries, and Okanagan wine in general, to the B.C. region and to travellers from outside the province.”

When the wine boxes are checked in, they are separated from the other luggage and secured separately behind netting.

The promotion was launched this week and will last throughout the year.
