A GOOD WEEK FOR PORTER

Porter Airlines had a very good week. President and CEO Robert Deluce commented on three announcements this week. One was for a strategic purchase decision on the part of the airline; one was for defending a coveted title and another for an unexpected recognition.

On July 12 the carrier signed a firm purchase agreement for three Bombardier Q400 turboprop airliners, increasing its fleet to 29. The list price for the purchase is about $93 million.
"The Toronto-built Bombardier Q400 aircraft is everything you could ask for in a turboprop," said Deluce, "It is an important component of our award-winning customer experience. The combination of operating efficiency, speed, very low noise levels inside and out, and excellent passenger appeal are unbeatable."
On the same day, Porter Airlines was a repeat winner of the Best Regional Airline in North America in the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards. Deluce said, "Three years in a row is a significant accomplishment. The commitment of our entire team to providing the highest level of service to our passengers is what helps us stay at this consistently high level. I believe that the service aspect of our value proposition sets us apart, and being recognized as North America’s best regional airline is a true representation of this."
The airline also made Travel & Leisure World’s annual award, scoring the tenth spot in the ‘Best International Airline’ category. It was a first for the airline and significantly the only carrier in North America to be recognized.
The airline was commended for an airline lounge open to everyone, and the fact that it still serves snacks and offers in-flight beverages in glasses.
"This is the first time Porter has been recognized in the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards, alongside prominent global airlines," said Deluce, "This shows that passengers see value in the convenience and service that we have become known for. We are proud to represent Canada on this list."
