“Great Barcelo Resort(s)”

This is a great resort. There are 5 Barcelo resorts one after the other and you can use 4 of them. It is like a mini-city, you don’t need to go out at all, and everyting is in there. Beautiful grounds, great atmosphere, very friendly staf that are never looking for tips. It is extremely clean and the food is always fresh. The restaurants are very good (we tried Italian, 2 of the Japanese and the Stakehouse). The buffets are all clean and had a lot of variety. You can use buffets in all 4 resorts. There is also a Mall with stores and restaurants, a waterpark for the kids ($10 USD per person using some coupons they give you). I liked the Tropical and Colonial grounds, it gave me a feeling of the past blended in the luxury of the present. Beach and pools are very close to each other so you can go wherever you like. I would go back anytime and suggest to all my friends and family. The only downfall is the nightly entertainment; it was designed mostly for Spanish people, but probably because there are so many locals vacationing there as well. Ah, and sheets are a bit crisp (very clean and white though), but they felt a bit like plastic and whenever you turned around you would hear the noise, sleeping with my kids and hubby in the same room the noise was quadrupled :)... but you get used to it by the third/fourth day. If you looking for a relaxed vacation that the only thing you do is wash your swimsuit, this is the resort to go. Greatly done Barcelo!!

The strong points Grounds, people, cleanness, beach and pools The weak points nightly entertainment, crisp/noisy sheets

“Great Vacation”

This was the first family vacation that we took outside of Canada. We had an amazing time at this hotel. It is a complex of 5 Barcelo hotels all in a row where you have access to all the others.(except the Palace) There are a large variety of restaurants to choose from and activities. The last night we were there we were able to be upgraded to a swim-up room. This was well worth it. The suites that were renovated are amazing. We will definitely be returning to this hotel for our next vacation but we will be getting a suite with Premium Club upgrade.

The strong points Beautiful place to stay. The staff are fabulous and the entire place is very well kept constantly and clean. The variety of foods you can get with access to all of the hotels is amazing. The beach seems to be private with only access to Barceló guests. The weak points The internet access in the rooms is not great. Sometimes unable to oonnect at all. The regular rooms are slightly outdated.

“Great!”

The hotel was great. Great service, great staff. The buffets had something for everyone...good selection but we tended to eat at the Colonial/Tropical buffet as they had a better variety. Easy to get around a huge resort with walkways everywhere or jump on the tractor trolley.

The strong points Service, children's & adults activities, food, accommodations, beach & pools The weak points Having to pay for some of the activities...surf rider, mini golf after 7 pm, bowling. Poor wifi access

“BARCELO MAYA CARIBE”

This is a great resort, beyond expectations. The food was fantastic, the workers were friendly, the room was clean, the beach was perfect with no over crowding. The down side was the evening entertainment could have been better and the coral in the swimming area was dangerous as you could not see it because of the slightly murky water. The most annoying thing was the waiters ruining a great meal with constantly asking to rate them on a survey right after the meal but then the lighting is dim so the survey can not be read. Believe me if they did a terrible job they would know about it so leave the guests alone. I would recommend the resort and will return.

The strong points The strong points are the food and cleanliness. The weak points The week points are bothering guests with surveys and the hidden coral under the water.

“Barcelo caribe review”

The beach and hotel were very pretty and well kept. No problems with beach chairs or towels. Drinks were alright. The wine however was terrible. The nightly entertainment was GOOD! We couldn't get a reservation at an a la carte even though we tried booking the first day. We went a week before Christmas and the place was filled with families with small children. The staff were very friendly.

The strong points The beach and hotel were very clean and well kept. Maid service was very good as well. The weak points Food in the buffet was COLD EVERYDAY! The house wine at the beach and dinner buffet was also not very good, tasted too acidic.
