ANOTHER DIVERSION Bad English. Bad memory. Bad excuses.

It seems not a week can pass without passengers causing on board disturbances and flight diversions. The latest involves a 35-year-old Israeli man, Michael Lavarov who is facing charges after an Austrian Airlines flight from Vienna to New York had to divert to St. John's, Newfoundland.

Police say they were called to the St. John's International Airport after the plane landed Sunday. The passenger was removed from the plane and taken to a hospital to be seen by a doctor. Lavarov, en route from Vienna, is now facing four criminal charges including causing a public disturbance, uttering threats, interfering with flight crew duties and endangering passengers. The crown is opposed to Lavarov's release, so he will remain in custody until he has a bail hearing later this week. Lavarov told Judge Mike Madden Monday, that his English is not so good, and that he doesn't remember what happened on the flight.
