SPECULATION ON NEW RUNWAYS FOR LONDON

British Prime minister Theresa May is considering her options when it comes to building new runways at Heathrow and Gatwick. "We will look at the evidence that comes before us and we will then take a decision on the basis of that evidence.” She said when asked if she supported more than one additional runway for the southeast.

The Airports Commission recommended over a year ago that a much-needed additional runway be built at Heathrow, with Gatwick as a second option.
The government will make the final decision on location.
Former Prime Minister David Cameron repeatedly postponed any decision, eventually leaving office without making one.
Trade unions last month called on May to approve a third runway for Heathrow, but the government has not indicated when a decision will be made, nor on whether there will be one or two new runways.
