HAPPY ENDINGS ALL AROUND

Raymond "Buzzy" MacCausland, 72 drives a cab in Boston on weekends. Last week he picked up an unidentified man who, about a mile into the trip, said he had a quick errand to run, and left his backpack in the car, promising to return in five minutes. After waiting for half an hour the cabbie decided to check the bag for identification. He found US $187,000 in cash which he delivered to the police.

When the money was in the hands of authorities the police department received a call from a man indicating that the bag and its contents belonged to him. The owner, who turned out to be homeless, was able to prove that it was inheritance money recently received upon the death of his father.
He was re-united with his money and at the urging of the police gave the honest taxi driver a reward, $100. (A rather less than generous sum, given the amount involved).
That’s when Royal Caribbean International got involved.
A cruise line spokesperson said the company has a programme called “Ticket to Adventure” where they reward people for exceptionally selfless acts.
The Ticket to Adventure is actually a sweepstakes promotion to encourage consumers to discover and explore Harmony of the Seas features and neighborhoods.
This week Royal Caribbean presented a cruise for two people to Buz and his partner for a free seven-night Caribbean vacation onboard Oasis of the Seas or Allure of the Seas, including airfare and upgrades.
MacCausland had previously returned $10,000 to another owner who had left money in his cab.
