FRANCE LOOKS AT INSTITUTE ON TERRORISM IMPACT

A French government report has proposed to set up an institute to monitor developments in the tourism industry following the recent attacks in the country. France's economy relies heavily on tourism, which provides an estimated two million jobs, according to the government.

The report released Wednesday noted the precise impact of the attacks on tourism is hard to evaluate. It also suggested the creation of a crisis centre that would be able to deliver “reliable information” to tourists in case of attacks or serious events happening in the country.
Exact figures remain unclear but hotel industry numbers and data on visits to major tourist attractions suggest a general decrease in visits to the French capital and the Riviera, following attacks in Paris last November and in Nice on July 14.
