Last week Ethiopian Airlines celebrated its 70 anniversary and Social Media launch party. Over 150 guests from travel and tourism, along with business partners and community leaders, enjoyed an evening filled with music, traditional dance and a taste of Ethiopian hospitality.

The event, complete with Ethiopian ceremonial dancers was hosted by Ethiopian Airlines Canada and managed by RadonicRodgers Strategy+. It was held at the Port Credit Yacht Club in Mississauga.
“We are putting all of our efforts forward in expanding Ethiopian Airlines’ awareness in Canada” said Birhan Abate, Ethiopian Airlines Country Manager for Canada.
“Our company has grown so much over the years with many achievements that we are proud of - Canada is our focus as we continue to expand.”
Attending guests watched the Ethiopian Airlines’ Aviation group’s video that highlighted several historical achievements of the airline’s 70-year history, from their advancements in the aviation academy, to business travel and the first all–female flight crew, operating from Addis Ababa to Bangkok.
Abate also shared with guests the benefits of travel to Africa from Toronto with Ethiopian Airlines. Guests currently have a choice of three weekly flights direct from Toronto to Addis Ababa, and can then connect to anywhere in Africa. Ethiopian Airlines has the newest fleet in Africa, including 16 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, 2 Airbus 350-900, a total of 82 aircraft with 51 new aircraft on order, a member of the Star Alliance family since 2011 and today more than seven million passengers travel with Ethiopian Airlines per year.
As part of the festivities, guests were encouraged to take “selfies” and other fun photos of the event to post on Ethiopian Airlines Canada social media platforms with the hash tag #EthiopianAirlinesCanada. All guests had a chance to win two business class tickets with Ethiopian Airlines for their social media engagement.
Ola George from FEVA TV was the lucky winner for being the most social-engaged guest.
