CRUEL AND UNUSUAL STUPIDITY

Lifeguards on a beach in the Dominican Republic reportedly ‘rescued’ a blue shark that was seemingly in distress. They pulled the shark from the water and as it struggled to breath and tried to escape, the lifeguards allegedly placed a life preserver in its mouth to prevent it from biting them, then along with some tourists, used it as a prop for picture taking and video making until it eventually died on the beach.

The lifeguards are reportedly from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Punta Cana. The seven guards gave thumbs up signs, some holding the shark down in photographs with children.
Hard Rock Hotel responded to their staff's actions on Twitter saying, “As Hard Rock does not condone this behaviour, we are taking this situation seriously. Staff involved will face appropriate action.”
Hard Rock Hotel spokesperson Stacy Sorino said that 'corrective measures' are being taken against the employees involved. “That is absolutely against our standards of protecting animals as we protect our guests.”
