Tropical storm Earl has prompted storm warnings and hurricane watches for parts of the Belize, Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula as well as the north coast of Honduras. Royal Caribbean’s Empress of the Seas cancelled calls to Belize and Roatan, and took an extra sea day and stop in Nassau, Bahamas. It bypassed Grand Cayman and added port stops in Nassau and CocoCay.

Liberty of the Seas cancelled calls at Roatan and Belize City and increased sea days from three to four and stopped in Cozumel and Nassau August 4.
Norwegian Escape canceled a Belize City call substituting Cozumel a sea day and Nassau today.
Heart attack in Juneau
A 96-year old man on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas was medevac’d in Juneau Monday evening showing symptoms of a heart attack. A Juneau Coast Guard crew and medics took the man to Coast Guard Station Juneau where he was transferred to Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
New smoking rules
Seabourn will no longer allow smoking on passenger cabin balconies or in the Observation Lounge, which presently permits smoking after 8:00 pm. Smoking is still permissible on the starboard half of the Sky Bar on Deck 9 (Deck 10 on soon-to-launch Seabourn Encore) and on the starboard half of the open terrace aft of The Club on Deck 5.
Passengers can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars on the starboard side of the open terrace aft of Seabourn Square on Deck 7 and e-cigarettes in passenger cabins.
Almost there
BC Ministry of Environment has reported that levels of sulphur dioxide coming from cruise ships docking at Victoria have been reduced. The ministry credits regulations for cruise line fuels and technologies for the reduction, but James Bay Neighbourhood Association president Marg Gardiner said, “there is still an emission issue, whether it’s a health issue or not we don’t know and there’s still particulate matter that’s an issue.”
She suggests there is always room for more testing to be done.
