SOMETHING ABOUT THAT HAIR The Florida Keys get political

A Florida advertising agency has an enchanting image of a snowy egret with its head plumage blowing on end. In the past the picture has been used with the tagline, ‘Bad hair day’, but now with a national election on the horizon - the coiffure of the heron is realizing greater potential in its similarity to a particular political candidate.

The ad reads, ‘Donald, is that you?’ It is one of a series of ads on display at two Washington Metro stations and trains in a campaign funded by the Florida Keys & Key West tourism council. "It's a perfect image to play off his (Trump's) challenging hair," said Dorn Martell, vice president of creative for Tinsley Advertising, the TDC's agency that created the ads. To be clear, the heron in the ads is a snowy egret, not the great white egret. The Keys tourism council does not endorse any presidential candidate, but the Washington-area campaign does feature other politically tied messaging. A poster showing a mahi-mahi fish being reeled in by an angler says "Strong response to the latest poles." A poster showing a couple holding cocktails on a balcony is titled “Party Platform” and a couple relaxing in a hammock is headlined "Swing State."
