“10 days of great beaches”

Great staff, on check they did not have the room that we specified but 10 minutes later lady behind the desk made the effort and found us a room with a balcony and oceanview. We had some issues with the lock not working for the room but was fixed with a sorry note and a bottle of rum . Food was a lot better than my previous trip to Cuba, you wont go hungry and there is a lots of choices. Only thing i was not impressed with for a 5 star resort was the lack of international drinks choices. I am not a heavy drinker but i do like a good scotch once in a while which i deeply missed on this trip. Even the basic JW red was a a premium at this resort. The Beaches are great, did not spend any time at the pool. Overall a great experience , but the only thing keeping from returning to this resort would be the lack in choice of international drinks.

The strong points Great staff, good food, clean. The weak points lack of international drink choices that are included in the price.

“Great experience for a first time trip to Cuba!”

The hotel was nice! I enjoyed my stay at the Melia Las Americas resort. There were a lot of activities, great people, and the food was good, too. I liked these three restaurants that they have on sight: Sakura, IL Moncello, and La Arcada. They serve really good food. The beach was beautiful, and the entertainment at the resort was very upbeat and engaging. When I go back to Cuba, I wouldn't mind going back to this resort. Great vacation!

The strong points Good entertainment Good food Lots to do on the resort and off of the resort Good encounters with other travelers The rooms are decent The weak points The towels..need better, cleaner towels Better wifi service connections More options to change money other than at the front desk or at the plaza las americas More nightlife activities on the resort

“X-mas/new year vacation”

we just returned and the resort is fabulous. Contrary to other reports the food was not unlike other resorts we went have visited. The rooms were very clean - not overly spacious but comfortable. Internet for the most part is non exsistent - you have to pay for usage which is very slow. The beaches are very nice white sand and kept clean. The water is crystal clear and can be rough at times because it is unprotected from any winds. Staff are absolutely great - they always greet you with a smile and ready to make your stay worthwhile. The general manager (Bernard) is a hands on type of manager and can be seen everywhere in the resort talking to staff/vacationers or even picking up plastic cups off the beach. We did not attend much entertainment but what we did go to was very well done. Would go again if there were no other places to go to in the world.

The strong points The staff and the beach and location in proximity to airport The weak points The lack of good internet like other resorts

“My cuba trip”

Amazing! The buffet was great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our two story, two bathroom, TWO balcony bungalo was really awesome. The shows in the theatre were very entertaining. This hotel is definitely geared towards an older crowd, but my friend and I (both 27) still had an amazing time. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing low key time.

The strong points Food, staff, beach, entertainment. The weak points I did believe this was an 18 resort, and there were a few under age people there, but they behaved themselves. long walk to our suite.

The strong points Staff, sushi at the Japanes restaurant. The weak points Walk a little long from my bungalow to the lobby.

“Second time a charm”

(August 1st - August 8th, 2014) This was our second time back at Melia Las Americas and I have no regrets going back a second time. From beginning to end it was an amazing vacation. With regards to the food my only comment is you are in Cuba and I believe they are doing the best they can with what they have, therefore you need to adapt and accept it or you will not enjoy your stay. The people who complain about internet access, again you are in Cuba ...that's all I will say !!! The entertainment manager, Yhosvanni Albanes Sobrino is dedicated in providing enjoyable shows and keeping guests entertained. It is not an easy task and with his personnel on the beach working hard everyday and at night with the amazing dancers, he pulls it off ! BRAVI !!! The hotel personnel whether they worked at the bars, restaurants, buffet or administrative staff, they had only positive things to say about the hotel Director, Mr. Bernard Meyer. We had an issue on our last day and Mr. Meyer resolved the issue quickly and we could continue our last day without any stress. Grazie !!! The best hotel in Varadero, Cuba is Melia Las Americas and I would recommend this hotel to anyone who asks me. Under the management of Mr. Bernard Meyer, we would consider going back a third time. Alireza and Catia

The strong points Location and beaches and staff. Stefano the executive chef has made big improvements in the food. The weak points This was our second visit and the food and restaurants had improved since last year.

“Melia las Americas”

Nice for Cuba. Not quite up to Mexico, but you go for the experience, not the luxury in Cuba. Good food, not great, limited drink selection, excellent beach. Go to Havana. What a city

The strong points Beach The weak points Drinks, bartenders

“Cuba Las Americas vacation”

Great hotel, fantastic beach, great people.

The strong points The beach, felt like a secluded beach. Personnel was very friendly. Smaller hotel, which we liked. We met many returnees, which speaks well of the hotel. Food was very good for Cuba, nice touch. Adults only was a bonus as well. The weak points The shows were standard Cuba fare, we did not attend any. We would have preferred a queen bed vs the 2 twins pushed together as we got, but this is nitpicking at it's best. All in all, not much to complain about, very few weak points.

“A Wonderful Experience”

We had a fabulous time. Everything you want to do is at this hotel. We met lots of friendly vacationers. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the food and loved the mohitos!! My daughter and I felt very safe. I don't usually go to all inclusives, but when I go back to Cuba, I will stay at Melia Las Americas.

The strong points Fabulous beach, great pools, wonderful staff, marvelous music and entertainment, good food. I would stay here again. The weak points Long travel time from Kelowna, needed to stay longer
