The weather may not be warm enough to hit the beach or swim in the sea but it is great for everything else this amazing town has to offer.

SAMPLE OYSTERS IN STON

The Oyster festival in Ston usually takes place at the end of March when Oysters are at their very best. All the local restaurants normally take part but the heart of the action is at Mali Ston seafront promenade. They are traditionally served raw in a half shell, with only a sprinkling of lemon juice. However, if you prefer your oyster cooked then you can sample them in different ways, prepared grilled, boiled, fried or even in a stew. Oysters are of course accompanied by local wines to give you the very best tasting experience.

The smaller crowds mean better photo opportunities too especially if you arrive very early when the park opens before the tour groups arrive.

A favourite spring activity for locals and visitors alike is finding wild asparagus. The coastal areas of Croatia are covered with the stuff, if you know where to look. Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik is a gorgeous Croatian city on the Adriatic Sea coast positioned at the terminal end of the Isthmus of Dubrovnik. It is one of the most prominent tourist resorts of the Mediterranean and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The city is nicknamed "Pearl of the Adriatic". The success of Dubrovnik’s tourist industry has brought a certain degree of complacency and self-satisfaction. Certain aspects of the city’s appeal remain immune to tourist numbers, however, most notably the uniquely stunning setting and the unjaded straightforwardness of the Dubrovčani themselves.

Zagreb

Zagreb

Zagreb is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Croatia. It is distinguished by its 18th- and 19th-century Austro-Hungarian architecture. It is a city with a rich history dating from the Roman times to the present day. The oldest settlement located in the vicinity of the city was the Roman Andautonia, in today's Ščitarjevo. The name "Zagreb" is mentioned for the first time in 1094 at the founding of the Zagreb diocese of Kaptol, and Zagreb became a free royal town in 1242, whereas the origin of the name still remains a mystery in spite of several theories. In 1851 Zagreb had its first mayor, Janko Kamauf, and in 1945 it was made the capital of Croatia when the demographic boom and the urban sprawl made the city as it is known today.

Zadar

Zadar

Zadar is a city in Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. It is the centre of Zadar county and the wider northern Dalmatian region. Zadar faces the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, from which it is separated by the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which the old city stands used to be separated from the mainland by a deep moat which has since become a landfill. The harbor, to the north-east of the town, is safe and spacious. Zadar is the seat of a Catholic archbishop.
