Smart marketing, the low dollar, great snow conditions and new international flights are all contributing to increasing tourism numbers for BC. March visitors were up over 16 percent over last year and the fastest growing markets are from France and Mexico.

More than 50,000 more tourists arrived in Canada’s most western province compared to last year, and Shirley Bond, minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills training, said "International tourists are putting BC at the top of their travel lists. By all accounts, 2016 is off to a fantastic start."

Tourism BC statistics show where the tourism increases are coming from:

• France up 51.6%• Mexico up 45.2%• US up 20.1%• Japan up 13.3%• South Korea up 10.1%• China up 7.8%• Germany up 6.2%• Australia up 4.7%• India up 2.5%• UK up 1.1%
