THAT WAS QUICK Glass bridge closes two weeks after opening

Just two weeks after its grand opening, China’s Zangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge has been forced to close. The world's highest and longest glass bottom bridge can safely accommodate 8,000 people a day or 660 at any one time, but up to 10 times that number have been visiting on a daily basis.

"We're overwhelmed by the volume of visitors," said a spokesperson who noted that there was no damage to the bridge but the closure was required by the 'urgency to improve and update.'
Those plans apparently include updating the infrastructure, including car parking, and improving the ticket-booking system.
There is no indication as to when the bridge will reopen.
The bridge stretches 430 meters across a 300-metre deep gorge in the Zhangjiajie Park, which was thought to be the inspiration behind the scenery in the sci-fi movie 'Avatar.'
