STAYING AFLOAT IN RIO

The Norwegian Getaway will dock at Rio's Pier Maua from August 4 to 22, becoming a floating hotel for the duration of the Olympic Games. And forget about the Athlete’s Village, Team USA men's basketball divas have chartered Silversea’s luxurious Silver Cloud as their residence for the duration.

Norwegian Getaway
The Norwegian Getaway, 4,028-passenger ship will be used to house members of the International Olympic Federation, National Organizing Committees and corporate sponsors on behalf of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee.
The ship also served in a similar capacity as the so-called 'Bud Light Hotel' for Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014 at the New York Passenger Ship Terminal.
Silversea Silver Cloud
The Silver Cloud with a capacity of about 300 passengers, (though it will host far fewer in Rio) has made some special adjustments for the team including replacing the usual beds with special seven foot ones.
However, two NBA players have opted out of the luxury accommodations, Australians Matthew Dellavedova and Andrew Bogut will be staying at the Olympic Village – and sleeping on single beds.
