The Carnival Spirit responded to a distress call on Tuesday evening, taking it off course near Port Macquarie on the New South Wales mid north coast in Australia. The cruise ship rescued two women from the Super-yacht Masteka 2.

The multi-million dollar yacht sailing from Fiji to Sydney had lost steering and was taking on water. Of the six original crewmembers aboard, four chose to stay on the boat to attempt repairs.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority told Carnival Spirit to remain with the yacht until they could arrive for assistance, and when they did; provided pumps and tools for the crewmembers as well as satellite phones.
The crew managed to stop the leak and had success keeping the water out until it was taken back to Sydney harbour by tugboat. Before the return to the harbour they spent 40 hours at sea with no power.
UPGRADES COMING SOON
Seven Seas Voyager is scheduled to undergo renovations later this month as part of the luxury line’s $125 million fleet-wide refurbishment programme. Following the refurbishment effort, Seven Seas Voyager will feature the same elegant style featured on Seven Seas Explorer.
Seven Seas Voyager joins Seven Seas Navigator as the second ship to receive the new update to the public spaces and suites onboard, with Seven Seas Mariner scheduled to receive a similar makeover in April 2017.
