NOT HIGH ON WEAPONS US tourist charged at CN Tower

A tourist from the US brought a loaded weapon inside a backpack on a visit to the CN Tower last week. The revolver was identified during a routine security check and Toronto police are suggesting that the man may not have had intent to use it, but didn’t realize that Canadian laws were different from those in the states.

The 45-calibre revolver was found in the backpack of Eric Hall, 26, of Phoenix, Arizona, who has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and careless storage of a firearm.

Toronto police constable David Hopkinson said that Hall is a licensed and registered gun owner and has a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Arizona.

He said that Hall says he brought the gun in from the US through customs and security at the airport. That will be verified.

Hall appeared in a Toronto court on Monday, where he was granted bail.
