This week a German court sentenced a nurse to three years in prison. The 41 year old forged a medical license and falsely claimed to be a doctor over a five-year period, even finding employment for ten months on a cruise ship.

On Monday the Berlin state court convicted the unnamed nurse of bodily harm, fraud and abuse of titles, and the fact that he put 41 patients under anesthetic resulted in a conviction of deprivation of liberty.
He worked at the German Organ Transplantation Foundation, participating in 41 operations over a span of several years before finding employment on an Aida vessel.
Over the span of ten months he treated 1,300 passengers on Aida Cruises and was praised as an exemplary ship’s doctor.
The judges commented that the man did not cause any harm to patients, but he would have been unable to respond properly in the event of a treatment complication.
The accused was arrested in December after flying from Miami to Berlin to join a cruise ship.
Hansjörg Kunze, VP Communication at Aida Cruises, told media that after a suspicion was raisedIn November 2015, "AIDA Cruises immediately contacted the police in Berlin . . . Only then we learned that investigations in this case have been going on for months already. Thanks to our support the suspect was arrested."
