CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Posted on 12/11/2015 | About British Columbia

Landlubbers have their Santa Clause parades, but boaters in BC have their Santa’s Christmas Ships. For two decades boating enthusiasts cruise from Belcarra to Burnaby, Port Moody and Deep Cove to “light up” the season. The event involves a series of vessels decorated in lights bringing cheer to restaurants and residences along the coast.

This year’s event started last weekend but there are still many calls to make over the next week. 04 December: The ships sail from Reed Point along the inlet and then back to Reed Point. 05 December: Ships stop at Belcarra Regional Park so Santa can disembark.

11 December: Cruise to Cates Park into Deep Cove and past Belcarra to Reed Point. 12 December: Cruise to Rocky Point Park and parade loop past the park. 18 December: From Reed Point Marina to Rocky Point Park in loop around inlet joined by crafts from the Vancouver Carol Ships.

19 December: From Reed Point back to North Vancouver, Deep Cove past Brighton Beach toward Camp Howdy, then back past Belcarra Park to the marina.
