BIENVENUE Enjoy Montreal

The number of French tourists to Montreal has increased by 15 percent over the past five years. The city intends to grow that number as it prepares to celebrate its 375th anniversary in 2017, so a delegation recently flew to France to talk up business, culture and attractions.

The campaign is called Montréal à Paris and is partnered by Tourism Montreal, the Chamber of Commerce and the Montreal World Trade Centre. For one week a group of business owners were joined by former Quebec premier Pierre Marc Johnson (who hosted a conference) to make the case and sell the city for tourism and business development. Tourisme Montreal described the event on their website as designed to create sustainable business opportunities between stakeholders in different sectors of the two cities (such as health sciences, aerospace and visual effects). It also represents a unique opportunity to showcase Montréal internationally by highlighting local talent: the creative industries, the rich and diverse culture, and the businesses that contribute to the city’s flourishing economy.
